You don't need to prepare anything specific β just bring yourself. These resources may help you feel more comfortable before we meet.
What to expect
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like to work on, and how I can best support you. There's no pressure to share anything you're not ready for.
How to prepare
Find a quiet, private space for your session. If attending in person, allow extra travel time. It can help to jot down a few thoughts beforehand β what's been on your mind, or what you'd like to get from counselling.
Preparing for an online session
If you're joining via Zoom, here are a few tips to get the most from your session:
β’ Find a quiet, private space where you won't be interrupted
β’ Test your audio and camera beforehand
β’ Use headphones if possible for better sound quality
β’ Make sure you have good lighting in front of you
β’ A stable WiFi or mobile data connection is recommended
β’ Marc will send your personal Zoom link prior to your session

A Different Version of You
A different version of you exists in the minds of everyone who knows you. The person you think of as "yourself" exists only for you, and even you don't really know who that is. Every person you meet, have a relationship with or make eye contact with on the street, creates a version of "you" in their heads. You're not the same person to your mum, your dad, your siblings, than you are to your coworkers, your neighbours or your friends. There are a thousand different versions of yourself out there, in people's minds. A "you" exists in each version, and yet your "you", "yourself", isn't really a "someone" at all.
β Counselling Support
Something to sit with...
β’ Which version of yourself feels most like the "real" you?
β’ Are there versions of you that others see that you've hidden from yourself?
β’ What would it feel like to let more people see a version closer to who you really are?
For Those Returning
Welcome back.
Thank you for continuing your journey. Take a moment this week to reflect on our last session β what stayed with you, what shifted, and what your best hopes are for today.
The ongoing nature of your journey
Counselling is rarely a straight line. Growth happens in layers β sometimes slowly, sometimes in unexpected moments. Returning is not starting over. It is a sign that you value yourself enough to keep going. Every session, whether your first or your fifteenth, is part of the same meaningful journey.
